‘Virtual Groundbreaking’ Launches Work on 11-Story Residence Tower

COLUMBUS, Ohio (January 29, 2021) – Ohio Living executives joined Dec. 16 to break ground on a new luxury residence tower, Heritage Pointe at Ohio Living Westminster-Thurber. To maximize safety amid the COVID-19 pandemic, remarks and dedication festivities were staged separately for a “virtual groundbreaking” video released today.

Located at the corner of Goodale Street and Neil Avenue in Victorian Village, the 11-story Heritage Pointe will house 57 luxury-style one- and two-bedroom apartments and two levels of in-building parking.

"Heritage Pointe will enable Ohio Living to meet growing demand for luxury living options in downtown Columbus,” said Laurence Gumina, Ohio Living chief executive officer.

“Our experienced team is very excited about this addition to Westminster-Thurber’s 55-year legacy of supporting the active lifestyles of aging adults in the region. We’re also very pleased by the tremendous pre-construction interest in Heritage Pointe.”

So far, 37 Heritage Pointe units have been reserved with deposits. They are slated to open in 2023.

The Columbus office of Messer Construction Co. will be the general contractor for the building project.

“Messer is proud to be leading the construction of a new 11-story tower for Ohio Living,” said Erin Thompson, vice president of Messer’s Columbus region. “Complex projects are what we do best throughout Central Ohio, and we look forward to safely delivering this job to Heritage Pointe and its residents.”

As part of Ohio Living’s award-winning Westminster-Thurber community, Heritage Pointe will offer an array of modern conveniences, including 9-foot ceilings, large four-season sunrooms, laundry rooms, full-size kitchens with pantries, heated bathroom floors and unique outdoor balconies and terraces.

Heritage Pointe residents will have access to first-class amenities, engaging programming and exceptional care and services, combining luxury living with the value and safety of a life plan community. The new high-rise residence will be connected to the existing Westminster-Thurber campus by an indoor walkway.
