Ken Kemper, corporate director of project development, is retiring from Ohio Living on December 31 after 43 years of service. Ken started with Ohio Living (then Ohio Presbyterian Homes) as temporary account help in 1973. He worked his way up through the company, serving as chief financial officer and as chief operating officer for over 15 years before moving into his current role, which he held for 11 years.

Ken has seen a lot of change since he started working out of the basement of Westminster Terrace, where the corporate headquarters was located at the time. He has been through three re-brandings and has seen six communities added to the organization. He oversaw many development projects in his current role during which time we have witnessed the greatest expansion period in the history of the company. He even saw the expansion of his own family, meeting his wife Caryl early in his career.

“Ken is one of the smartest people I’ve met and he has done a lot of great things for this company,” said Tom Hofmann, Chief Foundation Officer, who has worked with Ken for over 30 years. “I like to say he meets the five “Fs.” He is a man of Faith, he is a strong Family man, Food: he is a great chef, Funds: he is the largest employee donor to the Foundation in history, and Friend: his a loyal to his friends and colleagues.”

Dan O’Connor, Chief Operating Officer, who has worked with Ken for 26 years said, “I am grateful to him for his countless contributions and for giving me the opportunity to learn from him and share in the success of this company.”

We wish Ken well as he moves onto the next chapter of his life and spends time doing the things he loves, spending time with his family, cooking and traveling.
