Join us for "Older but Bolder,” a two-day symposium on active aging


Capital University’s Nursing Program will host “Older but Bolder,” a two-day symposium on active aging, March 19-20. This year’s keynote speaker will be Graham D. Rowles, Ph.D., a professor of gerontology at the University of Kentucky.  

Rowles’s presentations will include: 

  • Monday March 19 at 4 pm: Addressing Ageism in College Students
  • Monday March 19 at 6 pm: "Making, Remaking and Holding on to Home: Being in Place as we Age."

On Tuesday, March 20, internationally recognized experts in healthy aging will present a full day of workshops for people of all ages who are interested in boldly growing older. Workshops include:

  • Strategies for managing brain health
  • Improving balance
  • Balance assessments
  • Medicine for the aging brain and neurologic disease
  • Senior living options
  • Conductorcise, a fun, interactive, music-based exercise program for all ages with Dr. David Dworkin.

The event will be in the Capital Center (large field house on the east side of campus, on Pleasant Ridge.

Tuesday’s events also will include lunch and a resource fair. 

Free and open to the Capital Family and the community, the symposium has been made possible by the support and sponsorship of many local organizations, including Bexley Community Foundation/Bexley Wellness Fund, OhioHealth, Ohio Living Westminster-Thurber, and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and Heart Hospital.
