Ohio Living Culinary & Nutritional Services: Part of a Bigger Mission


John Andrews, Director of Culinary and Nutrition Services at Ohio Living, spoke with FoodService Director magazine on how he strives to integrate hospitality into customer/resident interactions on a daily basis.

The article states that “directors are challenged with transitioning every member of the team to be service-focused – even those who aren’t regularly interacting with guests.”

Andrews responded to this challenge, saying “people need to understand that they aren’t just a dishwasher.  We’ve gotten our people more engaged with the residents.  They get compliments and ask guests questions.  They understand they are part of a bigger mission.”

This includes employees like Ohio Living Cape May Sous Chef Aidan Carr-Henderson.  He says his most-rewarding moment working at Ohio Living Cape May thus far is interacting with residents and “transport[ing] our diners to a different time in their lives with fond memories.”
