MAKE IT HAPPEN - NOV. 2018
Walter (Jim) Weybrecht, a WWII veteran who served on the USS Intrepid, had always dreamed of returning to the decommissioned aircraft carrier one day. Today, he travels to New York to visit the Intrepid which now serves as a museum, thanks to the Make It Happen program through Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice and its volunteers.
Weybrecht's daughter had previously tried to plan the trip, but when his wife became very sick, he would not leave her side. After some time, Weybrecht's health also turned.
A volunteer coordinator for Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice knew his story and wanted to make sure this trip happened. Ohio Living then presented Weybrecht and his children with an envelope that informed him he would be travelling with his family and hospice manager, Colleen Anderson, to New York on November 8th, 2018.
