Ohio Living Rockynol's Bob Fischer named Board Member of Distinction

Shining a spotlight on those who have made a significant contribution to the well-being of older adults, LeadingAge Ohio announced Thursday that Ohio Living Rocknol's Bob Fischer has been named Board Member of Distinction.

Since joining Ohio Living in 1999, Fischer has been a board member at Ohio Living Rockynol, Ohio Living Corporate, Ohio Living Foundation and Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice.   He currently serves as Nominating Chair of Ohio Living Rockynol Board of Directors and Vice Chair of the Ohio Living Foundation Board of Directors.

According to LeadingAge Ohio, the Board Member of Distinction Award is given to an “outstanding member of the governing board of a member organization.”  Several criteria must be met in order to achieve the distinction, including contribution to community support and financial commitment to the member organization.

“Bob has always led by example and is Ohio Living Rockynol’s biggest cheerleader,” explained Kara Hanzie, Executive Director at Ohio Living Rockynol. “Bob is a passionate, caring, selfless individual, and we feel extremely fortunate to have him on our side.”

Ohio Living CEO Larry Gumina echoed those sentiments, saying “his personalized leadership style is both soft and direct while his drive is both thoughtful and visionary.”

Before his retirement from Goodyear, Fischer was an active member of the business community and continues in that role currently at Edward Jones.  Besides Ohio Living Rockynol, he also serves the Akron community through membership on other boards.
