A Lasting Love: Celebrating 69 Years of Marriage

Posted on February 14, 2017 in Hospice

Roberta and Earnest Queer, lovingly known as Bert and Ernie, recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. They started celebrating their anniversary at their 48th year of marriage and always went to the Tara-A Country Inn in Sharon, Pennsylvania. But this year, with Roberta in hospice, the couple could not make the trip, so her hospice team decided to bring the romance to them.

Through Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice's Make it Happen program that brings special moments of joy to those nearing the end of their life, the couple enjoyed a romantic candlelit dinner for two. A rib dinner with all the fixings was donated by Outback Steakhouse. The hospice team provided flowers, plates, special napkins and decor in Roberta's favorite color - purple, as well as non-alcoholic champagne. They even had a wedding cake to cut after their meal. The couple was able to celebrate this special day in their private assisted living room at Mulberry Gardens in Monroe Falls, Ohio.

Congratulations Bert and Ernie!
