Lake Vista Receives Medicare Certification

Executive Director Mary Cochran today announced that Lake Vista of Cortland has received Medicare certification for its new Nursing and Rehabilitation Center-- meeting the criteria set forth by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Medicare covers people who are either age 65 and over, or who meet other special criteria.
“With our Medicare certification, we are pleased to be able to offer skilled nursing and rehabilitation care to a greater number of people in the Cortland area,” Cochran said.
The addition of skilled nursing and rehabilitation care in January makes Lake Vista a full continuing care retirement community which better meets the increasing demands of its current residents and the growing needs of older adults in the Cortland area.
Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) helps cover inpatient care in hospitals, including critical access hospitals, and skilled nursing facilities (not custodial or long-term care). It also helps cover hospice care and some home health care. Beneficiaries must meet certain conditions to get these benefits.
Lake Vista’ new Nursing and Rehabilitation Center includes 14 private nursing units and 24 semi-private nursing units. It will allow the retirement community to provide rehabilitation following surgery, stroke, etc. and nursing care to Lake Vista residents on the campus and the surrounding area.
In addition to the nursing and rehab center, Lake Vista, an Ohio Presbyterian Retirement Services (OPRS) community, offers villa homes, apartments and assisted living. OPRS is the largest and most experienced not-for-profit provider of continuing care retirement communities and services in Ohio. With headquarters in Columbus, OPRS serves 4,500 residents annually, operates 11 adult day centers and offers Senior Independence services to 49,000 older adults in 36 Ohio counties.
