The Road to the New Rehabilitation Center
Posted on July 02, 2014 in Rehabilitation
Just like any home remodeling project, our new Rehab Center construction took a little longer than we originally anticipated.
Over the past ten months, crews from Mike Sandling Construction Company, LLC (Phase I) and Oswald Construction Company (Phase II) moved in and began calling our campus home. As our contractors, they oversaw a team of subcontractors that began with a demolition crew, but over the next few months we saw plumbers, electricians, heating and air conditioning, concrete, flooring, tile and many other hardworking teams who used their unique skills to craft our new space.
This addition was a complete renovation of the original 1957 structure in our Terrace building. We built the new center on the main floor of the Terrace building adjacent to the front lobby. The construction displaced our resident clinic, numerous offices and staff training center. Another key component of the remodel was adding a new elevator in the main lobby to allow better access for visitors to other parts of our campus.
The new center crosses over the original u-shaped assisted living area. We also relocated our Therapy Department from a small ground-level space to a larger, light-filled first floor therapy center adjacent to the Wellness Center.
It’s been a busy winter and spring here at Llanfair! At the same time we were building the new Rehab Center, we also had construction crews elsewhere on our campus. In our Larchwood, independent living residences, we upgraded the foyer and lobby area focusing on a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace. We also relocated the library to a much larger space on the second floor. We added a new gift shop, arts and crafts studio, lifelong learning resource center, and even a modern casual pub; sure to be the center of many entertainments to come.
Now that the dust has settled, the crews have gone home and the Rehab Center is just weeks away from opening, we welcome you to stop in and see all that we have to offer!
