Westminster-Thurber Community Wins National Award

Westminster-Thurber Community’s Leadership Team has received the 2008 Excellence in the Workplace Award from the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA). AAHSA stands for the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging. They are located in Washington D.C. AAHSA has a membership of 5,700 organizations and serves over 2 million older adults. A delegation of 20 employees went to Philadelphia (Oct 12-15, 2008) to the AAHSA National Convention to receive the award. Steve LeMoine accepted the award on behalf of the WTC community.

Westminster-Thurber Hosts International Conference

In early June, people from throughout the world gathered at the Hyatt Regency in Columbus for the Eden Alternative 4th International Conference in alliance with AOPHA, The Advocate of Not-For-Profit Services for Older Ohioans. Hosted by Westminster-Thurber Community, the only registered Eden community in Central Ohio, the conference provided world-class learning opportunities in Eldercare for nearly 350 individuals from 11 countries and 30 states. During the conference, Westminster-Thurber received the Master Gardener Award, which recognizes an Eden Registered Home’s commitment and journey toward bringing the Eden Alternative Principles to life throughout its organization. Dr. William Thomas, Founder of the Eden Alternative and Nancy Fox, CEO of Eden, presented the award.
