$7,000 Grant from Nationwide Foundation Earmarked for Westminster-Thurber Benevolent Fund

Posted on July 02, 2007 in In The News

The Nationwide Foundation has contributed $7,000 to the Life Care Commitment -- Westminster-Thurber Community’s benevolent fund. Westminster-Thurber, a not-for-profit continuing care retirement community near downtown Columbus, uses Life Care to assist residents who, through no fault of their own, have outlived their resources and are unable to pay for the cost of their housing or medical care.

“We are grateful to our neighbors at Nationwide and the Nationwide Foundation for their ongoing partnership, generosity and support on behalf of our residents,” said Steve LeMoine, Westminster-Thurber Executive Director. “Nationwide Foundation’s contribution to Life Care will help ensure the greatest possible quality of life for our residents.”

Over the years, philanthropic efforts on behalf of Westminister-Thurber have enhanced services, expanded and improved facilities, developed new programs and funded Life Care. Westminster-Thurber is a part of the Ohio Presbyterian Retirement Services (OPRS) family, the largest and most experienced not-for-profit provider of continuing care retirement communities and services in Ohio.

Since 1922, OPRS' continuing care retirement communities and programs have defined the highest standards of quality of life for older adults. Each year, OPRS serves more than 4,500 residents in its 11 retirement communities and 49,000 people in 37 Ohio counties through Senior Independence, the home and community based services division of OPRS. The OPRS Foundation raises several million dollars annually to support charity care, special programs, capital expansion and endowment.
