ElderQuest: An Eight-Week Film Study

Posted on January 18, 2019 in Active Aging, In The News, Learning

Films can provide a wonderful medium to learn about life.A film can transport us into time and location. It can also assist us in self-discovery, and exploring the mysteries of life, as well as the lesson we can learn from life experiences.  Unfortunately, society often paints a picture of aging in a negative light. ElderQuest is an intentional program designed to counter the prevailing notion of aging as a “decline” and instead, considers the possibility of late-life transformation, integrity and transcendence.

Once a year, ElderQuest provides an eight-week film study in partnership with the Lifelong Learning Institute at Central Ohio Technical College. Participants will join other film enthusiasts and explore eight films, all with a positive theme of aging. Each week, you’ll receive a printed course outline and listen to an introduction to the film. Following each film, a facilitator will lead a discussion on the theme of "elders on a quest."

To register for ElderQuest, simply show up to the first class. You will be directed to pay ($25 which covers all eight weeks) and fill out a registration form. Feel free to attend just one class or all eight--it's your decision! Questions? Please call or email Beverly Vogeley at 614.268.8571 or bevkv@aol.com.
