The Health Care Center at Ohio Living Westminster-Thurber in downtown Columbus, Ohio offers compassionate nursing care for our residents with a focus on quality of life. Our belief is simple: Our residents do not live in our workplace; we work in their home. We treat our residents as individuals with dignity, while we help them to be as independent as possible.

We serve the families of our residents as well – giving them the peace of mind that comes from knowing their loved one is well cared for. Whether you’re a son or daughter, husband or wife, you can take heart in knowing that when you can’t be there, we are. It’s a precious trust, and we treat it as such.

Culinary Excellence

Waking up to the smell of sizzling bacon and eggs is a memory many of us treasure. Residents in our health care center experience those savory morning scents and sounds every day. Residents follow the aromas to the open kitchen and comfortable dining spaces, where they can sip coffee and chat with friends. All meals are cook-to-order, so the eggs are always how residents like them. Rotating menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner ensure a variety of options to make mealtimes an anticipated part of each day. Our meals include comfort food favorites, seasonally inspired dishes, and ethnic experiences. A-la-carte options are always available in case the entrees are not to your taste. Individual dietary requirements are expertly followed, but flavor is never compromised.

Everyday Life

We make sure that life is never boring at Ohio Living Westminster-Thurber! Long-term care residents have access to the full community. If their health allows, they may choose to visit the chapel, attend an educational session in the auditorium, have lunch in the Bistro or Crossings restaurants, get creative in the arts and crafts studios, find a book in the library, get a professional haircut in the salon, and even buy a candy bar in the gift shop.

A variety of activities are held each day in the long-term care areas, and residents may participate as much or as little as they like. Activities don’t have to end at the end of the day. Evening activities include bingo, movie nights with popcorn, and live music. Moreso, residents’ visitors are always encouraged to attend.

While our activities are fun, it’s our furry friends that really make our community stand out! Rabbits make this campus their home, and staff bring them through the health care center daily for those that want to hold or pet these calming, fluffy friends. A handful of cats also live on campus, and staff members frequently bring their dogs to work, adding even more fun to the environment.

Spiritual Life

We promote the spiritual well-being of each resident in our care, respecting their personal choices and beliefs. Our on-site chapel provides a quiet space for prayer and reflection. Our full-time chaplain is available for room visits, one-on-one counseling, hospital visits (if requested), and grief counseling. Bible studies are held in the health care center for those interested.

In addition, as a faith-based organization, Ohio Living Westminster-Thurber’s mission recognizes the meaningful relationship between physical, mental and spiritual well-being.
