October 2023 Employee Spotlight: Brian V.

To share more about our fabulous Ohio Living Llanfair team, we’re introducing a monthly employee spotlight series. Hats off to Brain V., environmental services director, who has held a variety of roles supporting the daily operations of our campus’s maintenance, laundry, transportation, security and housekeeping departments for 18+ years.
Brian started at as a contracted HVAC technician, working for his father-in-law’s company that serviced the Ohio Living Llanfair campus. After his father-in-law retired and sold his business, Brian learned about an opportunity on-site, in the campus's maintenance department. In 2005, he officially became part of the Environmental Services team as a maintenance team member, and since he knew the buildings on the campus so well, it was a perfect role for him. He was subsequently promoted to maintenance supervisor and presently serves as our environmental services director.
Brian enjoys coming to work and fostering an inclusive team culture where everyone’s ideas are heard. He notes that interacting with Ohio Living Llanfair’s residents and knowing he and his team are making a difference in their lives brings him the greatest joy.
“I love it here,” said Brian. “The residents are a big part of why I have been here so long. The grounds, the gardening, the Arboretum – it’s just a beautiful campus. I am a true believer in the team perspective. Although I oversee several different departments, we are focused on making sure everyone is working together for the betterment of the campus and the residents.”
On any given day, Brian works to train staff, partners with the greater leadership team on staff retention and recognition, promotes life safety, and handles the day-to-day issues that arise are all part of his role. His role also has a big impact on the budget, so he prioritizes ways to save costs and stay within budget for projects.
