Spiritual Life at Ohio Living Mount Pleasant

Ohio Living Mount Pleasant serves people of all faith traditions and we employ people from differing faith traditions and backgrounds, as well. It is out of this diversity that we find strength and allows us to support others in their faith walk. With a full-time ordained chaplain, our mission is to serve others and meet them where they are on their journey.

At Ohio Living, our faith heritage has been the foundation for all that we do. We have been guided by these faith-based values and a strong relationship with community churches is one way that we live out these values.

The Mary H. Kittredge Chapel

The Mary H. Kittredge Chapel at Ohio Living Mount Pleasant was dedicated on September 24, 2008, and was completely funded by donors. The stained glass windows in the Mary H. Kittredge Chapel were hand-made at Beauverre Riodan Studios in Middletown, OH.  Mount Pleasant residents modeled for the artist who sketched the main stain glass panels.  The Chapel houses a 1906 Steinway Grand piano. In 2007, the piano was shipped to the Steinway factory in New York to be fully refurbished.  The result is a beautiful instrument with a gorgeous tone.  The piano and it’s restoration were gifted to the Chapel. Another gift to the Chapel is our Allen Four Manual organ.  The Allen organ has speakers housed behind panels over the altar, giving the feel of listening to a pipe organ.  It is connected to over 15 feet of cables, so the organ can be moved to the center of the Chapel for special organ concerts.

The Chapel is used as a gathering space for Worship Services, Music Concerts, Holiday events, Guest Speakers, Weddings, Music Recitals, and many other special events.

The Chapel Carillon rings on the hour, and plays music on specific hours, that can heard across campus.

Spiritual  Care / Spiritual Life Events

Our full-time Chaplain offers Spiritual Care on campus for residents, families, and staff, including campus and hospital visitation.

Spiritual Life events are scheduled across the campus.  Sunday Worship Services meet in the Chapel and are broadcast across campus on our in-house Television station.   Weekly Bibles studies are held several days each week in locations across campus, so residents can choose a time and location close to them.  Monthly “Tea and Talk” and Support Groups allow time and space for residents to gather for fellowship and support.

Special services are held throughout the year for Ash Wednesday, Lent, Palm Sunday, Good Friday, Easter, Advent, and Christmas Eve.

Other special events through the year include campus Weddings, Renewal of Wedding vows, Baptism, and Blessing of the Pets!
