Silver Heart Award Spotlight: Catherine, Ohio Living Breckenridge Village

Hats off to Silver Heart Award recipient Catherine, who is the director of activities at Ohio Living Breckenridge Village. Among her potpourri of fabulous qualities, Catherine gets to know each resident’s life story and personality, and her personalized interactions demonstrate an extraordinary example of care and intentionality.
Her direct report shared, “Catherine is an excellent teammate and director. She is a good leader for our department, going above and beyond for us and the residents.
She listens carefully to what you have to say, keeping the lines of communication with her, easy to do. She works tirelessly to keep schedules, meetings and activities going smoothly. She leads and partakes in activities, holds music therapy classes, conducts staff training, keeps the logistics of the department running smoothly, and maintains great relationships and communication with all parts of Ohio Living Breckenridge Village.”
Other nominators praised Catherine for her upbeat attitude, empowerment of her staff team and willingness to ask for feedback. “She is always asking for feedback, asking about how she is doing and if there is anything more she can do to help. She really cares that her team is equipped to succeed, whether that is physically or emotionally.”
Another direct report added, “I have to say that working with and for Catherine is a pleasure. I admire how involved she is with the residents - she knows their life stories and personalities, which makes her care personal to each individual. Her interaction with residents demonstrates how we all should be with the people that call Ohio Living Breckenridge their home.”
