More of Miranda's Clay Critters

Posted on November 30, 2018 in In The News

Miranda has a written a story to go with each picture.

This week's theme is "The Sea"

Meet Ollie Octopus. Ollie is a happy little orange fellow, hanging on his up cycled wooden frame sea scene. He is created from polymer clay over an armature. Ollie has been accented with acrylic paints and gloss, including hand-painted eyes.

"The Sea Sets My Soul Free"

There’s something about the deep, dark sea that seems endless and freeing. The whales know of what I speak. And the multitude of creatures hiding in the deeps.

The whale is created of polymer clay over a foil core, adhered to the acrylic and bead accented canvas. Hand-stamped with “The Sea Sets my Soul Free” saying.

Jolly Jellyfish

I’ve never seen a purple sea, but if there was, I bet there would be a jolly jellyfish bouncing around in it quite merrily. As an added bonus, he GLOWS IN THE DARK.

Polymer clay covered canvas, accented with acrylic paints and gloss.

Hatchlings

Five tiny turtle hatchlings make their way into the waves…rolling upon the water to the relative safety of the sea. This sculpture was fun to create…and a bit challenging. I added some glass micro beads to give it a little extra pizzazz. The turtles and water are attached to an acrylic painted canvas that has been secured into a wooden frame.

Mer-King, the Catfish of the Sea
Some days I start a project with a clear, semi-normal goal in mind. This is not it. My hubby looked at it and asked me, "Why?" Couldn't really give him an answer, but I do like how this crazy little sea critter turned out. Catfish, Mer-King, weird fish-cat in a water-themed frame. You decide. But I can pretty much guarantee that you won't find another of these.

All Tangled Up

Under the sea family. My squiggly little squids are happy to be together.
