(MONROE, July 1, 2015) – Mount Pleasant Retirement Village resident, Tom Schuler, has been selected to be the Grand Marshal in the Fourth of July parade, hosted by the City of Monroe and the Monroe Lions Club.

Mr. Schuler is a veteran of the Army Air Corps where he served his country for more than three years before being discharged from combat training after the first atomic bomb was dropped on Japan in 1945. Mr. Schuler graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in business and went on to retire from Sorg Paper Co., in Middletown, Ohio after 31 years.

“Tom is honored to be the Grand Marshal of this year’s Fourth of July parade,” said Mallory McDermott, Independent Living Activity Coordinator at Mount Pleasant. “Tom is a very active resident at Mount Pleasant and is very deserving of this honor.”
